Coronavirus 3D modelling by TinkerCad
What is Coronavirus?
Coronaviruses are a type of virus. There are many different kinds, and some cause disease. A newly identified type has caused a recent outbreak of respiratory illness now called COVID-19.
The virus has been named “SARS-CoV-2” and the disease it causes has been named “coronavirus disease 2019” (abbreviated “COVID-19”).
About Coronaviruses
- Coronaviruses are common in different animals. Rarely, an animal coronavirus can infect humans.
- There are many different kinds of coronaviruses. Some of them can cause colds or other mild respiratory (nose, throat, lung) illnesses.
- Other coronaviruses can cause more serious diseases, including severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS).
- Coronaviruses are named for their appearance: Under the microscope, the viruses look like they are covered with pointed structures that surround them like a corona, or crown.
So, it has nothing to do with corona beer.
How to design coronavirus 3D modelling in TinkerCad?
Step 1: create a sphere at the center, the size 70 mm is pretty good.
Step 2: find the spot on sphere (ball), attach the work plane to that point.
Step 3: choose the ball handle from “Connectors”, and drag it to the center on work plane.
Step 4: make sure it was at the center point (see the small square on the background).
Step 5: choose to rotate the ball handle for 90 degree (or -90 degree based on the direction you see)
Step 6: repeat the same procedure, and place the spike (ball handle) at different place on the ball
Step 7: change the color of the spike ( I choose red)
Step 8: before you export and prepare for printing, group it, it will become one color (it is blue for my design).
Finally, we can get the 3D modelling of Coronavirus, and print it by your 3D printer.
Wish every one stay at home, and stay healthy.
